About the Role

Glasgow Forge Vets4Pets is looking for an experienced vet to join a close-knit, sociable team that values development and work life balance. The role is based in Glasgow, with a rota that can work around full-time or part-time hours, and there is no OOH cover required.

The practice offers real scope to build on an area of clinical interest, with support for medicine, surgery, dentistry, dermatology and more. There is also room to teach or mentor if that appeals, alongside the chance to help grow the surgical caseload.

Rota flexibility is a key part of the role, with options such as four longer days, five shorter days, or finishing early on some days for childcare. Saturday cover is 1 in 4, 9am to 5pm, with Sundays now closed, and any overtime can be paid or taken as time in lieu.

Key Responsibilities

• Join the veterinary team at Glasgow Forge Vets4Pets as an experienced small animal vet.
• Carry out consults and surgeries while supported by nurses who run their own consults most days and undertake Schedule 3 procedures.
• Contribute to the growth of the surgical caseload and develop a chosen clinical area of interest.
• Support teaching or mentoring if you have that experience or would like to develop it.
• Take part in the Saturday rota, which is 1 in 4 and runs from 9am to 5pm.
• Work within a team that holds monthly clinical meetings and full team meetings.

Requirements

• You should be an experienced vet.
• Experience of teaching or mentoring is welcome, although the advert also says a desire to do this would be valued.
• You should be happy working in a small animal practice.
• Availability for full-time or part-time hours is possible.

About the Practice

Glasgow Forge Vets4Pets describes itself as a friendly, well established and sociable practice with a close knit, family feel. The vet team includes the practice owner and veterinary surgeon, Struan, along with 3 full time vets, 2 part time vets, 4 RVNs, 3 SVNs, a practice manager and an experienced reception team.

The practice has invested in a brand new ultrasound and is supporting further clinical development within the team, including cardiology and soft tissue surgery. It is located on a retail park at 71 Biggar Street, Glasgow, with free parking, a major bus route nearby and a train station about 10 minutes' walk away.
