OOH Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

MiNightVet New Forest is seeking an OOH Veterinary Surgeon to join its small animal team in Ringwood. The rota is clearly defined, with 7 nights on and 14 off, a Sunday day shift rota of 1 in 6, and two bank holiday day shifts per year. Part time options are available, and the rota can be discussed with the team.

You’ll be working within a small animal OOH service that includes dedicated dog and cat wards, an isolation ward, and a wide range of clinical equipment to support night work. CVS also describes the environment as friendly, collaborative and supportive, with clinicians encouraged to make decisions and share best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care within the OOH service at MiNightVet New Forest.
• Take the lead on surgical and medical cases as part of the night rota.
• Carry out diagnostic investigations and manage a varied caseload.
• Participate in the Sunday day shift rota, plus two bank holiday day shifts per year.
• Work alongside vets, nurses, PCAs and receptionists in a collaborative OOH team.

Requirements

• Experience as a veterinary surgeon is required.
• Confidence in clinical decision-making and autonomy.
• Ability to lead on surgical and medical cases.
• Comfort with diagnostic investigations.
• A team-focused approach, with an interest in mentoring and supporting colleagues.
• Strong client care skills.

About the Practice

MiNightVet New Forest is part of CVS and operates as a small animal OOH practice in Ringwood. The service has dedicated dog and cat wards, an isolation ward and equipment that includes digital radiography, ultrasound with Doppler, a dental suite with digital dental radiography, video endoscope, bronchoscope, blood gas analyser and ECG.
