Ready to join a supportive, growing practice where you'll work with an experienced team, enjoy a 4-day week, and skip the OOH entirely? Maidenhead Vets for Pets values flexible clinical work and genuine work-life balance.
No out-of-hours or overnight on-call; 1-in-4 Saturday mornings only (9am-6pm daytime shift).
This is a full-time veterinary surgeon position at a purpose-built small animal practice in Maidenhead, a thriving riverside town. You'll work a 4-day week with just 1-in-4 Saturday morning cover (9am-6pm), and critically, there is no overnight on-call or out-of-hours commitment at all. Your days are structured around 15-minute consults as standard, with longer appointments when needed, plus protected time for lunch and admin.
The practice welcomes candidates with a medical or consult bias, but equally values generalist GPs. You'll have minimal sole charge work and will be part of a weekly clinical team meeting to discuss patient care progression, plus monthly whole-team gatherings. The team operates with an open and flexible approach, and you'll work alongside 2.5 experienced vets, a newly qualified graduate, 6 RVNs (including a Head Nurse and Practice Manager), and strong support staff.
Maidenhead Vets for Pets is a purpose-built small animal practice opened in 2015 by Anthony Emley, a certificate holder in surgery and Vet GDP Advisor. The practice is at the heart of the Maidenhead community on the River Thames and has grown to become a leading GP practice. Facilities include 3 consult rooms, operating theatre, preparation room, separate dog, cat, and exotics wards, plus full equipment expected of a modern practice and dedicated kitchen space for staff.
The practice values diversity and inclusion, encouraging all colleagues to be themselves and contribute their unique perspectives. The team philosophy centres on passion for animals and commitment to high-quality client care, operating with flexibility and an open clinical culture.
