No out-of-hours duties; one weekend in five only.
Newton Abbot Vets for Pets is a thriving small animal practice that opened in 2014 and has built a reputation for outstanding patient care and genuine support for its team. The surgery is RCVS accredited with Silver Cat Friendly status and has recently undergone redecoration to create an even brighter, more welcoming environment. This is a part-time role offering flexible hours from 15 to 40 per week, with just one weekend in five and no out-of-hours duties, making it ideal for balancing professional growth with personal wellbeing.
You will work alongside five other veterinary surgeons, six registered veterinary nurses (some trained in Schedule 3 procedures), two kennel assistants, and a proactive front-of-house team. The practice serves a busy and varied caseload with a strong ethos of collaboration and continuous learning. The team communicates daily through active messaging groups to share cases and support one another.
Newton Abbot Vets for Pets has established itself as an award-winning practice committed to exceptional care and team wellbeing. The surgery is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including a cytology and morphology analyser capable of running ear cytology in under ten minutes, urinalysis and electrolyte machines, haematology and biochemistry analysers, a new dental x-ray machine, and new ultrasound equipment. The practice is led by its owner, Chris Hawkins, a multiple nominee for Vet of the Year in the PetPlan National Veterinary Awards.
The team values diversity and inclusion, believing that pets do not discriminate and encouraging all colleagues to be themselves. The practice aims to reflect the diversity of the communities it serves.
