Whetstone, London
Part Time
Brand-new purpose-built practice in Whetstone seeks a skilled vet for 24 hours per week. Modern facilities, supportive culture, and genuine work-life balance – join a team that values collaboration and high clinical standards from day one.

About the Role

This is your chance to join a freshly opened, purpose-built small animal practice in Whetstone that’s building something special. The practice welcomed its first patients in July 2025 and is actively growing its team under the leadership of Practice Owner Shweta Nakrani, who qualified from the University of Liverpool and brings expertise in cat-friendly practice, soft tissue surgery, and brachycephalic airway syndrome.

Working 24 hours per week across a flexible schedule, you’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative environment where high clinical standards and supportive teamwork are genuinely embedded in the culture. You’ll have access to a modern, fully equipped facility with digital and dental x-ray, dedicated theatre, and separate cat, dog, and isolation wards – plus a spacious colleague area designed with the team’s wellbeing in mind. Whetstone itself offers the best of both worlds: suburban charm with excellent transport links to central London, the M25, and the A1, making commuting straightforward.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skillset in a varied caseload while having genuine support for CPD and further qualifications. Whether you’re looking to specialise in scanning or other areas, the practice is committed to backing your development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard consultations and surgical care across the practice’s varied small animal caseload
  • Work collaboratively with the practice team while maintaining confidence in independent practice
  • Contribute to the practice’s supportive, proactive culture and positive working environment
  • Engage in continued professional development, with particular opportunity to develop specialist interests (scanning or other areas)
  • Utilise the practice’s modern facilities including theatre, diagnostic imaging, and dedicated clinical areas to deliver excellent patient outcomes

Requirements

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in clinical practice
  • Confident in both surgical and consultation work (consult-only experience considered)
  • Interest in developing a specialism (scanning experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passionate about delivering high standards of patient care
  • Team player who is also comfortable working independently

Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £60,000 full-time equivalent (pro-rated for 24-hour week), dependent on experience
  • Leave: 5.6 weeks holiday, rising to 6.6 weeks with service, plus additional birthday leave
  • Professional support: Generous CPD allowance with support for certificate qualifications; paid professional memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
  • Health & wellbeing: Private health insurance; access to wellbeing support and colleague assistance programmes
  • Pension: Contributory pension scheme
  • Additional perks: Cycle to work scheme; 20% discount at Vets for Pets, Pets at Home, and the Groom Room
  • Career development: Genuine opportunities to develop specialisms and progress within a supportive practice
