About the Role

This is a part-time twilight position (18:00–00:00 shifts) at Vets Now Bournemouth, one of the UK’s leading emergency and critical care providers. You’ll be part of a highly skilled nursing team delivering emergency care across surgery, anaesthesia, diagnostics, and in-patient management. The clinic has been serving the Bournemouth community since 2010 and holds RCVS accreditation as a Small Animal Emergency Service Clinic, meaning you’ll work with genuinely complex and rewarding cases that most general practices never see.

The working pattern is flexible and rotational: Week 1 takes three shifts (Monday, Thursday, Friday); Week 2 two shifts (Monday, Tuesday); Week 3 two shifts (Thursday, Friday); then a week off. You’ll also share a fair portion of bank holidays. This structure offers predictability alongside genuine time off.

Vets Now is committed to your development—you’ll have access to their industry-leading ECC certificate programme and substantial CPD support, making this role ideal if you’re serious about specialising in emergency and critical care nursing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first aid advice via telephone triage and in-clinic assessment
  • Manage critical care cases: monitor major body systems, track in-patient trends, identify clinical changes rapidly, and provide physiotherapy and pain assessment
  • Perform wound and dressing care with confidence and precision
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures independently in a sole-charge capacity when required
  • Maintain the high clinical standards Vets Now is known for across emergency and critical care

Requirements

  • RCVS registered for a minimum of six months
  • Experience with emergency and critical care (ECC) cases is highly advantageous
  • Motivated to uphold clinical excellence and best practice
  • Genuine commitment to animal welfare and client care

Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £39,000 pro rata depending on experience
  • Professional Development: £1,125 annual CPD allowance plus 20 paid CPD hours; full support for Vets Now’s recognised ECC certificate
  • Leave & Time Off: 7 weeks annual leave (pro rata); your birthday as a paid day off
