5 nights on, 5 nights off rota. Shift times: 18:00–05:00 Monday to Thursday, 18:00–06:00 Friday to Sunday. This is a dedicated out-of-hours role in a 24/7 emergency hospital.

About the Role

You’ll join Vets Now Glasgow’s emergency and critical care hospital as a Team Leader Registered Veterinary Nurse, leading a nursing team through a dedicated night shift pattern. This is a genuine leadership opportunity where you’ll work alongside specialist and advanced practitioner vets, assisting our head nurse in the smooth running of our Out of Hours team and leading a team of nurses and animal care assistants.

The role operates on a structured 5 nights on, 5 nights off rota (18:00–05:00 Monday to Thursday, 18:00–06:00 Friday to Sunday). You’ll provide high-standard inpatient care for a diverse caseload including emergency, orthopaedic, soft tissue, and internal medicine cases in a genuinely collaborative multi-disciplinary setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the out-of-hours nursing team, including RVNs and animal care assistants
  • Assist the head nurse in the day-to-day management of the nursing department
  • Provide direct inpatient care for emergency and critical care cases
  • Support the clinical team across orthopaedic, soft tissue, and internal medicine cases
  • Maintain high organisational standards with meticulous attention to detail
  • Mentor and develop nursing staff, fostering a positive team culture

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with substantial clinical experience
  • Proven team leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and develop team members
  • Experience in emergency and critical care nursing (preferred)
  • Flexibility to work a permanent night shift rota
