Receptionist

About the Role

You'll be the welcoming face of emergency and critical care at Vets Now Kilmarnock, working part-time on a one-year fixed-term contract. This role operates on a rotating schedule across weeks 1 to 4, with shifts primarily between 18:00-22:00 on weekday evenings, plus some daytime Sunday hours and bank holiday cover. You'll be first point of contact during emergencies, managing calls, greeting clients, and handling financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer emergency calls and manage initial client contact
• Greet clients and handle reception duties during out-of-hours periods
• Process financial transactions accurately
• Relay information to the veterinary team about patients en route or clients needing assistance
• Perform accurate administrative tasks
• Share bank holiday cover fairly across the team

Requirements

• No prior veterinary experience required
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure in an emergency environment
• Reliable and flexible approach to shift work
