🕐 Schedule & Rota

Weekend only role on fortnightly rota: Saturday 12:00–18:30 and Sunday 08:30–18:30. Minimum commitment of 2 shifts per month; flexibility available for additional shifts. Two weeks off every four weeks.

About the Role

Join Vets Now’s emergency team in Swansea as a Veterinary Nurse, working weekends only on a flexible basis. This is the ideal opportunity to deepen your emergency and critical care knowledge whilst maintaining control over your working hours—whether you’re looking to earn a second income, pursue professional development, or balance family commitments. Work as little as two shifts per month, with current availability on a fortnightly rota: Saturday 12:00–18:30 and Sunday 08:30–18:30, followed by two weeks off.

You’ll be part of Vets Now’s highly skilled emergency team, operating within the UK’s leading out-of-hours network serving over 1,700 practices through 60+ clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. The Swansea clinic is at the heart of emergency care provision for the region, handling complex and time-sensitive cases every shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first aid advice via telephone triage and perform in-clinic care with confidence
  • Manage critical care cases, including monitoring major body systems, tracking in-patient trends, and identifying clinical changes rapidly
  • Carry out physiotherapy, pain assessment, and wound and dressing care
  • Perform basic diagnostic procedures independently, supporting the clinical team during busy emergency periods
  • Contribute to maintaining high clinical standards across the Swansea emergency clinic

Requirements

  • RCVS registration for a minimum of six months
  • Genuine passion for delivering compassionate care to patients and clients
  • Commitment to maintaining high clinical standards in an emergency environment
  • ECC experience or demonstrable interest in emergency and critical care (advantageous)
