Ready to launch a structured career in emergency & critical care? Join Vets Now's Cutting Edge programme: 8 weeks of world-class training, mentorship from ECC specialists, and a permanent ECC role at a clinic of your choice with flexible 30–40 hour rotas and up to £65,000 salary.
ECC-dedicated role. After training completion: rota of 30–40 hours per week, typically no more than three consecutive night shifts, average three shifts weekly.
This is a structured pathway into Emergency and Critical Care with Vets Now, the UK's leading out-of-hours provider. The Cutting Edge programme combines intensive, hands-on training with guaranteed employment in one of Vets Now's 27 ECC clinics nationwide. You'll spend eight weeks in a comprehensive learning phase—delivered by RCVS-recognised ECC specialists—covering shock management, fluid therapy, respiratory and cardiac emergencies, trauma, surgical technique, blood gas analysis, and point-of-care ultrasound. Training takes place at Vets Now's Central Support hub in Scotland (accommodation provided), followed by hands-on clinical experience at your chosen clinic under the guidance of a senior clinician. After completion, you'll transition to full-time permanent employment with a rota of between 30–40 hours per week, designed to balance professional development with personal wellbeing—typically no more than three consecutive night shifts and an average of three shifts weekly.
This role is ideal for vets seeking structured development in ECC with peer support and mentorship, rather than jumping straight into independent emergency practice. The programme welcomes veterinary surgeons at all experience levels, including recent graduates.
