Weekend Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This Weekend Veterinary Surgeon position at Vets Now Southampton is built around ECC work, with a varied caseload and rota options that can suit different schedules. Pay is up to £45 per hour, DOE, and both rota patterns include a fair share of bank holidays.

One option covers Saturday backshift 18:00 to 00:00 and or Sunday backshift 18:00 to 00:00 every weekend, where you will often work as the second vet on shift. The other covers Saturday day shift 12:00 to 18:00 and Sunday day shift 08:00 to 18:00, with the option of every or every other Saturday and every other Sunday being considered.

You will be supported by a dedicated team and receive mentorship, along with training and development opportunities designed to help you progress in an out-of-hours environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver emergency and critical care for a varied weekend caseload at Southampton.
• Work from Beech House Veterinary Centre, 64 West End Road, Southampton, SO18 6TG.
• Cover the agreed weekend rota, including bank holidays where applicable.
• Work alongside another vet on the backshift pattern, sharing cases and clinical discussion.
• Contribute to a team focused on progressing ECC skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon.
• Interest in ECC and out-of-hours work.
• Willingness to work weekend shifts.
• Ability to take on an interesting and varied emergency caseload.
• Open to mentorship and development within an ECC setting.
