About the Role
Virtue Vets operates a chain of stylish, contemporary small animal clinics across London, each equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic, surgical, and laboratory facilities. This is a permanent role available on full-time or part-time hours, working clinic hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Sunday. You'll work a 5-day, 8-hour shift pattern with weekend cover on a 1-in-3 rota (Saturdays and Sundays).
The practice has built a reputation for clinical excellence, with team satisfaction ratings of 8.2 out of 10 and an eNPS of 50, significantly above the industry benchmark. Each clinic has three vets and a comparable nursing team, all selected for clinical competence and collaborative approach. You'll be joining a practice that invests in professional development, structured protocols, and client education.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional first-opinion small animal consultations with a focus on diagnostic imaging and internal medicine
- Perform soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery with extensive anaesthesia experience and awareness of best practice protocols
- Manage all aspects of clinic operations on a day-to-day basis, demonstrating clinical leadership
- Lead and support a team of student and junior nurses, commanding their respect through clinical competence
- Develop specialist interests and pursue further qualifications in fields such as laparoscopy, ophthalmology, dentistry, neurology, oncology, or geriatric care
- Educate clients about treatment options and preventative care, using structured clinical protocols
- Contribute to the practice's operational performance and constructively help solve clinical challenges
Requirements
- RCVS registration as a veterinary surgeon (MRCVS)
- Extensive anaesthesia and surgical experience
- At least one certification or demonstrated commitment to gaining further qualifications in a field of clinical interest
- Sole charge experience (desirable but not essential)
- Ability to manage all clinic operations independently on a day-to-day basis
- Proven ability to lead and mentor student and junior nursing staff
- Strong diagnostic imaging and internal medicine skills
- Orthopedic or internal medicine experience is a significant plus
- Entrepreneurial mindset: self-starter, flexible, willing to challenge convention and improve operational performance
- Excellent people skills and ability to build client relationships
- Positive, cheerful attitude and willingness to collaborate across all teams
- UK passport or settled status (no visa sponsorship available)
Benefits
- Salary: £40,000 to £60,000 per annum (Junior Vet, 0-3 years); £60,000 to £75,000 per annum (Senior Vet, 3-7 years); £80,000 to £90,000 base salary plus commission above £500,000 annual revenue (Lead Vet, 7+ years)

About the Practice
Virtue Vets is London's premier next-generation small animal clinic chain, combining a contemporary aesthetic with premium care at reasonable prices. Each clinic features 3 consultation rooms (including a dedicated feline suite), open-plan prep area, imaging suite, dental suite, and a sterile surgical theatre with team facilities.
The clinics are equipped with a 2m Digital Static X-ray, Vetus 50 ultrasound with cardiology hookups, latest Mindray anaesthesia machines with ventilators and monitors, iM3 CR7 dental X-ray and dental machines, endo and laparoscopy kits with rigid scopes, 10+ in-house laboratory analysers running 70+ tests, and HTVista scanners for lump assessment. The practice is selective about hiring and has built teams of clinically competent professionals who actively support one another.
