Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

Join an independent, award-winning three site practice serving Portishead, Nailsea and Yatton, just south of Bristol. This is a people-focused GP role for an experienced vet who enjoys building client relationships, working cases up properly and being part of a team that shares knowledge freely.

You will usually be based across two sites, including Portishead and either Yatton or Nailsea, with days split between consulting and operating. The rota is 39 core hours over 4 days, plus 1:12 Saturday mornings and a fair share of the on-call rota, including approximately 1:8 weekends for inpatient care at the Portishead practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide small animal GP care across the practice's three site network.
• Work cases up through a mix of consulting and operating.
• Build strong relationships with clients and support continuity of care.
• Work across two sites, including Portishead and either Yatton or Nailsea.
• Take part in Saturday morning cover and the on-call rota, including weekend inpatient care at Portishead.

Requirements

• Experienced veterinary surgeon.
• Confidence with general practice and case work ups.
• A people loving approach and good client communication skills.
• Interest in developing a clinical area of focus is welcomed.

About the Practice

Watkins & Tasker Vets is a proudly independent, award-winning small animal practice with sites in Portishead, Nailsea and Yatton. The team includes 13 vets, with certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, Zoological Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging, and additional certificates in Dentistry, Cardiology and ECC in progress.

The practice is well equipped and forward thinking, with CT, video endoscopy, laparoscopy, dental Xray and high quality ultrasound. It also has welfare friendly accreditation including Dog Friendly Clinic status, ISFM Gold Cat accreditation and Gold RWAF awards, plus an in house rehabilitation service through hydro.vet.
