About the Role
You'll be joining White Cross Vets Balby, a modern small animal practice where no two days are the same. This role offers 20 hours per week, though the practice is open to discussing your ideal working pattern—fewer hours, specific days, or full-time arrangements are all welcome.
You'll experience true clinical freedom within a supportive, friendly team committed to your professional growth. The practice sits conveniently just five minutes from the A1 with on-site parking, making it easy to balance work with life in Doncaster or nearby Sheffield.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care across a range of small animal cases, from routine procedures to complex emergencies
- Support the surgical team in a fully equipped surgical suite and dedicated dental suite
- Assist with diagnostics using digital x-ray, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory facilities
- Contribute to the practice's teaching and mentoring culture—White Cross actively trains Student Veterinary Nurses
- Work alongside 4 experienced vets and 7 registered veterinary nurses with specialist qualifications in Anaesthesia, ECC, Behaviour, and Physiotherapy
- Support clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Passion for small animal medicine and commitment to high-quality patient care
- Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment
- Professional approach to clinical work with flexibility around hours and working patterns

About the Practice
White Cross Vets Balby is part of White Cross Vets, one of the UK's fastest-growing veterinary groups, now operating 23 practices across the North and Midlands. The practice features state-of-the-art facilities including a fully equipped surgical suite, dedicated dental suite with dental x-ray, digital x-ray, high-quality ultrasound, in-house laboratory, HT Vista mass scanner, four consult rooms, dual-station prep area, isolation room, and a separate cat-friendly waiting area. A new White Cross site is opening in September, expanding peer support and mentoring opportunities across the region.
The Balby team includes a Practice Director who is an internationally accredited coach and mentor, a dedicated Clinical Lead Nurse and Head Nurse focused on high-quality care and positive culture, and a committed front-of-house team.
