No out-of-hours or bank holiday cover required. Saturday morning rota 1:4 (8:00 am–12:00 pm) is daytime only, not overnight on-call.

About the Role

Yorkshire Vets is looking for an experienced first-opinion veterinary surgeon to join their busy hospital and branch network across Leeds and Bradford. This is a role for someone who loves varied general practice but wants the backing of a well-equipped hospital environment.

The position is hospital-based with the option to cover branch practices and shape your role around your clinical interests. You’ll work 4-5 days per week with shifts typically running 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, plus Saturday mornings (8:00 am–12:00 pm) on a 1:4 rota. Importantly, there is no out-of-hours or bank holiday cover required—giving you genuine evenings and weekends to yourself. Flexible working patterns are genuinely considered based on your circumstances.

You’ll be part of a friendly, stable team supported by certificate holders in ophthalmology, surgery, and dermatology, creating a collaborative environment where clinical standards and professional development are taken seriously.

Key Responsibilities

  • First-opinion consultations and clinical decision-making with a varied caseload
  • Inpatient care management and diagnostic workups
  • Routine and occasional surgical procedures
  • Diagnostic imaging (digital X-ray, ultrasound with Doppler, endoscopy) and in-house laboratory work
  • Client communication and follow-up care
  • Occasional branch practice cover alongside hospital-based work
  • Contributing to a quality-focused, collaborative team culture

Requirements

  • Experienced first-opinion veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Comfortable with varied general practice caseload
  • Strong clinical decision-making and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
