About the Role

Abbey Veterinary Group’s Greenock Surgery is seeking a proactive and compassionate full-time RVN to join a well-established, friendly mixed practice. You’ll be based in historic Greenock, a scenic riverside town with views across to Loch Lomond and easy access to Glasgow (45 minutes by car), beaches, and coastal towns—perfect if you want a slower pace without sacrificing career opportunity.

This is a permanent, full-time position with no on-call nights. You’ll work weekends on a 1:4 rota (Saturday 8am–3pm, Sunday 9am–12:30pm), giving you genuine work-life balance. The practice is RCVS accredited and operates across two surgeries in Paisley and Greenock, with an excellent support network of vets, nurses, ACAs, and receptionists.

The practice is investing in developing nurse consultations and specialist nurse clinics—personal growth is actively encouraged, and they welcome candidates pursuing further qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative and ongoing care for medical and surgical patients
• Assist veterinarians in theatre and preparation areas
• Manage pharmacy stock control and ordering
• Care for isolation patients
• Perform laboratory work using the practice’s fully equipped lab facilities
• Develop and deliver nurse-led consultations and clinics as the service expands

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Proactive, compassionate approach to patient and client care
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment

About the Practice

Abbey Veterinary Group operates a mixed first-opinion practice with two surgeries serving Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire. The Greenock Surgery is well-equipped with two operating theatres featuring multi-parameter monitors, the latest Karl Storz laparoscopy equipment for laparoscopic spays, a fully equipped laboratory with advanced haematology, biochemistry, electrolyte and therapeutic monitoring analysers, ultrasound, digital radiography, and a dedicated dental x-ray unit.
