About the Role

You’ll join Active Vet Care Summerleaze as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in a vibrant 24-hour small animal hospital serving the Maidenhead community. This is a full-time position working 38 hours across four days per week, with a manageable 1:6 weekend rota (day shifts only)—and crucially, no mandatory night work, though the opportunity exists if you choose to explore it.

As a university partner practice, you’ll have the chance to mentor veterinary students and help shape the next generation of professionals. Every day brings variety: you’ll work across inpatient care, consulting, anaesthesia, and Schedule 3 procedures, using state-of-the-art facilities including X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and laparoscopic surgery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard inpatient care, supporting patient recovery and monitoring health outcomes across all clinical areas
  • Provide consulting support alongside veterinary surgeons, offering reassurance to patients and their owners
  • Manage anaesthesia and perform Schedule 3 nursing procedures with precision and confidence
  • Maintain clinical facilities to the highest standards, ensuring excellent conditions for optimal patient care
  • Contribute to the team’s warm, collaborative culture by fostering a friendly and welcoming environment
  • Develop your skills through ongoing training, CPD, and mentoring opportunities—including the potential to teach and mentor student veterinarians
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and pets’ owners, building strong professional relationships

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Passion for delivering exceptional care to both patients and their owners
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
