This role is perfect if you thrive in a fast-paced environment where you’re the first point of contact for pet owners—answering phones, welcoming clients in person, and creating that warm, reassuring experience that sets the tone for their visit. You’ll be part of a supportive team within a large, well-established veterinary group that genuinely prioritises both animal welfare and staff wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to client queries via phone, email, and in person with empathy and professionalism
  • Register new clients and manage client information
  • Complete insurance claim forms accurately
  • Dispense medications and process payments at the desk
  • Create a warm, welcoming first impression for all clients arriving at the practice
  • Work collaboratively with vets, nurses, and care assistants to support smooth daily operations

Requirements

  • Previous receptionist experience (essential)
  • Veterinary experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Resilient and able to handle potentially distressing or emotional client situations calmly
  • Excellent communicator with strong empathy and people skills
  • Proven customer service experience and comfort dealing with the public
  • Positive attitude and genuine teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems
  • Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available for this role)

Benefits

  • Salary in line with National Minimum Wage (as of 1 April 2025)
  • Generous annual leave: 5 weeks per year plus bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Staff discount scheme on veterinary bills and products
  • Employee Assistance Programme with access to over 400 Mental Health First-Aiders
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Clear Receptionist Career Pathway offering structured development and training opportunities to advance your skills and career within CVS
  • Inclusive workplace culture where diversity is celebrated
