Part Time
Join a thriving multi-disciplinary practice where you'll split your time between farm support and front-desk duties—no rigid rota, just genuine flexibility. If you've got farming know-how and love working with both animals and people, Clare Vet Group wants to hear from you.

About the Role

This is a part-time permanent position working 30 hours per week with no set rota, giving you genuine flexibility to balance work and life. You’ll be the glue holding together the farm and reception sides of a busy, multi-site practice—one moment assisting vets with TB testing on local farms, the next managing client queries at the desk. Based at Clare Vet Group’s Ballyclare clinic, you’ll also provide cover across three other branches (Whiteabbey, Cavehill, and Carrickfergus), including Saturday shifts and bank holidays as needed.

Clare Vet Group is a purpose-built, 20-vet practice serving small animals, large animals, and equine clients across Northern Ireland. This is a dynamic environment where your practical farm knowledge and people skills will be equally valued, and where you’ll work alongside experienced vets and a supportive team who genuinely want you to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with TB test record-keeping and on-farm procedures across client farms
  • Provide flexible reception coverage across Ballyclare, Whiteabbey, Cavehill, and Carrickfergus clinics
  • Support front-of-house operations during staff absences, including weekend and bank holiday cover
  • Deliver high-level customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently

Requirements

  • Farming background with strong awareness of cattle handling and on-farm safety practices
  • Friendly, professional demeanour with excellent people skills
  • Flexible and willing to work across multiple locations at short notice
  • Organised and capable of managing administrative tasks efficiently
  • Practical, hands-on approach combined with attention to detail

Benefits

  • 6.6 weeks’ annual leave (FTE), plus additional birthday leave
  • Increasing annual leave through length of service
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies: maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Discounted staff pet care
  • Pension scheme
  • Learning and development opportunities via IVC Evidensia Academy
  • Voluntary benefits: choose from a range to suit your needs
  • Access to discounts and cashback with hundreds of participating retailers
