Ready to step into a leadership role without sacrificing work-life balance? Ambivet Aspley is looking for a Head RVN to lead a supportive nursing team in a well-equipped first opinion practice where clinical excellence and team morale go hand-in-hand.

About the Role

This is a full-time Head Nurse position at Ambivet Aspley, a long-established first opinion practice with a loyal client base and a reputation for excellent team morale. You’ll take the lead on the nursing and reception team, working closely with the practice’s Senior Vet to drive clinical standards and practice operations forward.

You’ll be at the heart of daily practice management—championing nurse-led clinics and consultations, mentoring student veterinary nurses, and being the go-to point of contact for the nursing team. The role combines clinical leadership with people management, perfect for an experienced RVN ready to step up or a Head/Senior Nurse seeking a better work-life balance in a genuinely supportive environment.

Based primarily at the Aspley Main Site in Nottinghamshire, you’ll have access to the group’s Hospital Branch, which is equipped with ultrasound, radiography, dental facilities, endoscopy, advanced surgical equipment (including laparoscopic), ICU, internal laboratory, and a visiting CT scanner—giving you exposure to high-level first opinion care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the nursing and reception team, fostering a positive and motivating culture
  • Advocate for and develop nurse-led clinics and consultations
  • Support and coach student veterinary nurses (SVNs) in their development
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of practice operations from a nursing perspective
  • Manage equipment maintenance and repair protocols
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the nursing team
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Vet to maintain high clinical standards and patient care

Requirements

  • Current RVN registration
  • Proven experience in a veterinary nursing role
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated readiness to take on leadership responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills with a patient and client-focused approach
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Positive, motivating leadership style
  • Reliability and ambition in a clinical setting

Benefits

  • Flexible benefits package tailored to your needs at different stages of your career
  • Access to ongoing professional development and certificate study support through Ambivet’s investment in colleague growth
  • Supportive team environment with genuine commitment to work-life balance
  • Full benefits package details available via CVS Group’s ‘What We Offer’ page
