🕐 Schedule & Rota

1:4 weekend rota (Saturday or Sunday day shifts), rotation into late procedure shift, plus 1:4 week into wards.

About the Role

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists in Winchester is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its friendly nursing team in a procedure-focused position. This is a full-time permanent role (40 hours per week) offering the chance to develop expertise in anaesthesia and surgical nursing within a specialist referral environment. You’ll participate in a 1:4 weekend rota (Saturday or Sunday day shifts) plus a rotation into the late procedure shift, with an additional 1:4 week into wards. The role is also open to part-time arrangements for the right candidate.

Based in a serene countryside setting with state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll work alongside a supportive team including dedicated vets, nurses, nursing assistants, and PCA staff. Many clinicians at Anderson Moores are nationally or internationally recognised specialists in their fields, and the hospital provides 24/7 care including orthopaedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, dentistry, cardiology, anaesthesia, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, oncology, physiotherapy, ophthalmology, and pain management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients under general anaesthesia throughout all areas of the hospital
  • Manage sedated patients across all services
  • Assist with surgical and diagnostic procedures
  • Prepare patients for surgery and manage post-operative care
  • Set up, maintain, and clean clinical equipment including organisation of servicing and repairs
  • Place intravenous catheters and perform blood sampling
  • Run basic laboratory tests in the absence of laboratory technicians
  • Monitor and reorder stock and equipment under your responsibility
  • Assist with patient admissions and patient flow management
  • Support Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs) and induct new RVNs to the team
  • Maintain high standards of clinical hygiene and cleanliness across all procedure rooms

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) status
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy specialist environment
  • Proactive, can-do attitude with flexibility
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Interest in anaesthesia and procedural nursing (desirable)
