About the Role

Join Avonvale Veterinary Centres’ friendly nursing team in Stratford as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. You’ll work a 40-hour week with flexibility built in—choose between nights or weekends to suit your life. Out-of-hours work is part of the role, with a relaxed 1:13 weekend rota, 1:10 nights rota, 1:8 Saturday afternoons, plus Saturday mornings (1:7 at individual branch level). Weekend and night shifts are based at the Warwick hospital location.

This is a role that truly values nursing—the practice prides itself on full nurse utilisation, incorporating consultations and Schedule 3 work into your everyday practice. You’ll be exposed to a wide variety of procedures and advanced nursing techniques thanks to the team’s numerous RCVS certificates in surgery, imaging, and medicine. Your nursing colleagues bring real expertise and remarkable longevity—one team member has been with the practice for over 35 years.

You’ll need your own transport and a self-motivated approach, but in return you’ll work alongside a skilled, genuinely supportive team in a growing group of seven primary care practices across Warwickshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care across a broad range of small animal cases, from routine procedures to advanced nursing techniques
  • Conduct veterinary consultations and Schedule 3 work as part of full nurse utilisation
  • Support surgical, imaging, and medical cases alongside RCVS-certified veterinary surgeons
  • Work collaboratively with Patient Care Assistants to maintain the highest standards of patient care
  • Contribute to the team’s culture of continuous professional development and skill-sharing
  • Undertake out-of-hours duties on a flexible rota (nights or weekends as chosen)

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
  • Own transport (essential for out-of-hours and multi-site working)
  • Self-motivated approach to professional development
  • Willingness to work out-of-hours shifts (nights or weekends—your choice)
  • Passion for small animal nursing and a collaborative team ethos
