🕐 Schedule & Rota

About the Role

This is a full-time or part-time position with genuinely manageable hours: no overnight shifts, and Saturdays on a fair rota basis. You’ll work within a modern, purpose-built surgery serving a loyal, varied caseload in the heart of Barnsley—a vibrant South Yorkshire town famous for its award-winning markets and cultural attractions, perfectly positioned between the Peak District’s countryside and Sheffield’s city life.

You’ll be joining a supportive, motivated team at an in-store practice that’s been serving the community for over seven years. The team is expanding, and they’re actively looking to grow with people who share their vision of putting pets and clients first. Cases can be fully worked up in-house, and you’ll have strong referral links with Barnsley Hospital, which offers CT imaging and specialist services to expand the care you can provide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide small animal veterinary care across a varied caseload, with the flexibility to develop and pursue your own clinical interests
  • Work confidently in sole charge when required, within a supportive team structure
  • Contribute to a collaborative practice culture focused on gold-standard patient care and client relationships
  • Engage in professional development and pursue certificates with full practice funding and support

Requirements

  • Good small animal experience and current veterinary registration
  • Confidence working as sole charge vet when required
  • Genuine passion for delivering exceptional care to patients and clients
  • Team-focused approach and willingness to contribute to a supportive practice culture

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £80,000 (depending on experience)
  • £5,000 Welcome Bonus or Relocation Support
  • £1,500 annual CPD allowance plus 5 days dedicated CPD leave
  • Funded certificates actively encouraged and supported
  • Pension scheme and private healthcare coverage
  • RCVS, VDS, and one additional professional membership fully paid
  • Extra day off on your birthday—because celebrating you matters
  • Annual leave that increases with length of service
  • Up to 30% discounts at Pets at Home and The Groom Room
  • Generous relocation package (UK or overseas) and visa sponsorship (A+ rated sponsor)
  • Excellent career progression opportunities within a large, successful veterinary group
