Saturdays shared on a rota basis; if you work a Saturday, you receive the following weekend as a long weekend off. Practice closed Sundays and bank holidays. Occasional sole charge work required.

About the Role

You’ll be joining Vets for Pets Middlesbrough Cleveland Park, a friendly and experienced small animal practice built on a foundation of mutual support and professional development. Founded by joint practice owners and vets Sophie and Andy, the team has intentionally cultivated a positive learning culture with a family feel—a place where everyone looks forward to coming to work.

The practice has grown steadily, and now they’re looking for another veterinary surgeon to join as they continue to expand. Your diary is arranged to give you proper time for case write-ups, results reporting, and clinical work at the standard you’d want to provide. Saturdays are shared on a rota basis, but if you work a Saturday, you get the following weekend off as a long weekend. The practice is closed on Sundays and bank holidays. Occasional sole charge work is part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care across a busy, varied small animal caseload
  • Contribute to the practice’s established clinical interests in exotics, soft tissue surgery, and ophthalmology—or develop your own specialisms at your own pace
  • Participate in regular team meetings and one-to-one check-ins to shape practice protocols and your own progression
  • Work collaboratively with a nursing team of 3 RVNs, 1 SVN, practice manager, and reception team
  • Share occasional sole charge responsibilities as agreed

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • A few years of clinical experience preferred
  • Comfortable with routine consultations and surgeries
  • Interest in developing a specific clinical area or progressing towards a more senior role
  • Happy to work occasional sole charge and Saturday rotas
