About the Role

Join Blacks Vets as a Registered Veterinary Nurse on a fixed-term maternity cover basis (9 months). You’ll work across all five branches in the Dudley and West Midlands area, experiencing genuine variety in your day-to-day practice. This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) offers the best of both worlds: the cutting-edge facilities and complex caseload of a busy hospital, plus the chance to build strong client relationships and run nurse clinics in smaller branch settings. With weekends on a manageable 1:4 rota with TOIL, you’ll enjoy a real work-life balance while working on the leafy edge of Birmingham—close enough to countryside charm, yet connected to the city’s energy.

The practice’s multi-disciplinary team includes nurses with certificates in Cardiology, Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology, Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery. You’ll be heavily involved in all cases and have the opportunity to assist with complex procedures, working within an advanced veterinary nursing niche.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care across all five branches, including a busy hospital and smaller branch clinics
• Support complex surgical and medical cases under the guidance of the experienced clinical team
• Conduct and lead nurse clinics in branch settings
• Assist with advanced procedures including orthopaedic, soft tissue and dental work
• Contribute to first-opinion and referral-level service delivery
• Support the team’s commitment to clinical excellence and client care

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Experience working in small animal practice
• Willingness to work across multiple branch locations
• Ability to work flexibly, including occasional weekends

About the Practice

Blacks Vets is an award-winning practice with over 50 years’ experience serving the Black Country and West Midlands.
