Occasional weekend cover may be required. Standard hours are Monday–Wednesday (25 hours per week).

About the Role

This is a part-time nursing position within the Internal Medicine service at Blaise Veterinary Referral Hospital, a large-scale, multi-disciplinary specialist-led facility. You’ll deliver advanced nursing care for complex medical cases, working 25 hours per week over three days (Monday–Wednesday), with occasional weekend cover as required. This is a fixed-term contract running until early 2027.

You’ll be part of a welcoming, knowledgeable team within one of the UK’s most extensive referral networks. Blaise is home to specialists across Internal Medicine, Oncology, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Soft Tissue Surgery, and Anaesthesia, alongside the 24-hour Vets Now emergency service. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced nursing care supporting the daily case management of complex internal medicine cases
  • Anaesthesia and analgesia of cases
  • Support patient imaging including CT, radiography, MRI, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, and ultrasonography
  • Planning and coordinating with our Wards and ECC Nurses about patient care plans
  • Maintain and prepare the Medicine and imaging suites and specialist equipment used by the service
  • Contribute specialist nursing expertise to clinical decision-making and share knowledge with the multidisciplinary team
  • Support continuous improvement and evidence-based practice standards within the discipline

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse (essential)
  • Significant experience in clinical practice with competent nursing skills relevant to internal medicine
  • Experience working with complex medical cases in a referral or advanced-care setting (advantageous)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
