Boyce & Houston Vets
Apply before: Mar 22, 2026
1 in 4 Saturday mornings required; no out-of-hours (night shift or overnight on-call) work
This is a permanent full-time or part-time position (flexible hours available) with a confident, established small animal practice in Clydebank. You’ll work with a friendly, close-knit team across modern, fully equipped premises that underwent refurbishment in January 2019. The role includes 1 in 4 Saturday mornings and no out-of-hours work, giving you genuine work-life balance alongside the commute convenience of excellent public transport links and proximity to both Glasgow and Loch Lomond.
This is an active nursing role with real variety and the opportunity to develop your clinical skills across surgical care, anaesthesia monitoring, diagnostic imaging, and specialist nursing clinics. The practice is actively expanding its nursing team and planning to introduce Wellness Screening appointments—a chance to shape and grow new service lines.
Boyce & Houston Vets was established in 1990 and has been serving the small animal pet-owning communities of Clydebank for over three decades. In January 2019, the practice relocated to refurbished, modern premises offering a comfortable working environment. The facility includes two operating theatres, five consultation rooms, separate cat and dog wards, an isolation walk-in kennel, multiparameter monitoring, new ultrasonography equipment, digital X-ray technology enhanced with AI diagnostic support, and in-house laboratory facilities. The practice recently achieved RCVS General Practice accreditation.
The team comprises 7 vets, 3 nurses, 1 head nurse, 1 animal care assistant, and 5 receptionists. The practice is known for its low staff turnover, warm and friendly atmosphere, and genuine support for all team members from clinical to support staff. Social events and charity fundraising (including annual cycling challenges for Flutterby/Cystic Fibrosis, the Doddie Weir Walk, Street Vet support, and Christmas collections for homeless shelters) are central to team culture. The Clinical Director is highly supportive and actively recognises the vital contribution of every team member.
