Veterinary Farm Practice Cleaner

About the Role

This is a permanent, part-time position based at Castle Vets FA’s farm practice in Barnard Castle. You’ll work 15 hours per week across five days, with flexible shift options: either early mornings (05:30–08:30) or evenings (17:00–20:00). Your role is essential to maintaining the practice’s professional standards and ensuring a clean, hygienic environment for both clinical and non-clinical spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain consistently high cleanliness standards across reception areas, offices, bathrooms, and staff rooms
• Vacuum and mop floors throughout the practice
• Empty and manage waste bins with appropriate health and safety practices
• Clean and disinfect all kitchen surfaces to infection control standards
• Dust and wipe down all surfaces, mirrors, and glass
• Restock essential supplies including toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning materials
• Clean windows and external areas as required
• Sanitise bathrooms and shared facilities to veterinary practice standards
• Follow cleaning schedules consistently and identify areas needing attention independently

Requirements

• Proven experience in a cleaning or housekeeping role (veterinary or healthcare sector experience is ideal)
• Physical capability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and use cleaning equipment safely
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Reliability and punctuality—this is a consistent, scheduled role
• Solid understanding of safe cleaning practices and proper use of cleaning materials
• Good health and safety awareness, including safe waste disposal
• Positive, professional attitude and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
