About the Role

This is a part-time Veterinary Surgeon opportunity at a first opinion small animal practice in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire. The rota is flexible, with the team considering 1 or 2 days a week, mornings only, or Saturday-only working, alongside a share of Saturdays and backup on-call.

Full-time vets work 4 days a week, although several members of the team already work 3 days a week. Weekends and on-call are shared equally, and the practice also runs its own out-of-hours rota on a 1:6 basis, either from home or staying on site, with Saturdays also 1:6.

The location offers access to the Oxfordshire Cotswolds and nearby days out, while the practice can also help with relocation support and accommodation options, including a one or two bedroom flat on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out primary care work within a first opinion small animal practice.
• Handle inpatient care, medical work ups and surgery.
• Take the lead on surgical and medical cases, including diagnostic investigations.
• Work within a team that includes vets, RVNs, PCAs and receptionists.
• Contribute to out-of-hours cover on the practice rota.

Requirements

• Experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon.
• Minimum 3+ years experience.
• Confident handling a varied caseload with clinical autonomy.
• Open to developing further, including the possibility of working towards a certificate.

About the Practice

Stow Veterinary Surgeons in Stow-on-the-Wold is a small animal first opinion practice and part of CVS Group. The practice has been serving the surrounding area for over 200 years, with purpose-built premises in Stow-on-the-Wold opened in 2001 and four nearby branches in Burford, Northleach, Milton under Wychwood and Moreton in the Marsh.

Facilities include a dental suite with digital dental x-ray, endoscopy, two theatres, an imaging suite with DR X-ray, ultrasound with cardiology capabilities, a tonometer and laparoscopic equipment. The practice also has visiting cardiologists and AP surgeons, plus access to VetOracle telemedicine and imaging services.
