Head Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity for a Head Veterinary Surgeon to join Archway in Petersfield, Hampshire. The practice describes itself as friendly and family-like, and it sits in the heart of the South Downs National Park.

The role offers 40 hours per week, normally split over four days, with 1:4 Saturday rota participation. Flexible and part-time options are available, and consults are booked at 15 to 30 minutes with time also set aside for admin and phone calls.

You will be working within a stable team of 16, alongside certificate holders in ophthalmology and cardiology, plus a supportive nursing team. The practice is also a vet nurses training practice and is well equipped with ultrasound, including cardiac probes, dental x-ray, multi-parameter anaesthetic monitoring and an in-house laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the team as Head Veterinary Surgeon at Archway Petersfield.
• Mentor fellow vets and contribute to ongoing improvement across the practice.
• Maintain clinical work while also developing people leadership and business management skills.
• Work within a first opinion small animal practice with structured consultation and admin time.
• Take part in the Saturday rota on a 1:4 basis.

• A confident, experienced vet.
