Senior Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a Veterinary Surgeon role with scope to be appointed at Senior Veterinary Surgeon level, working across a multi-site team serving communities in Wiltshire. The practice is happy to discuss different rota patterns, so the role can be shaped around the right candidate.

You will see a varied caseload across Warminster, Westbury, Bradford on Avon, and the 24/7 hospital in Trowbridge. The role includes scope for mentoring, supporting clinical standards, and contributing to the development of the wider practice and hospital team.

Trowbridge also offers the chance to work within a fully integrated service where daytime and out of hours teams work closely together, helping with case continuity and exposure to both routine and emergency work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a varied first opinion caseload across several Wiltshire sites.
• Work within the Trowbridge hospital environment, alongside the wider day and out of hours teams.
• Carry out surgical and medical work, including diagnostic investigations.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to clinical standards where appropriate.
• Help shape ways of working across the practice and hospital team.

Requirements

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon.
• Confident clinical skills with the ability to take the lead on surgical and medical cases.
• Comfortable with a varied caseload.
• Strong client care approach.
• For the Senior Veterinary Surgeon level, experience supporting colleagues and contributing to clinical excellence is expected.

About the Practice

The role is based at Harris, Hill & Gibbons Veterinary Centre, part of CVS. The wider team works across multiple sites in Wiltshire, including Warminster, Westbury, Bradford on Avon and the Trowbridge hospital.

The practice has facilities for medical and surgical day cases, with digital x-ray, ultrasound and dental services. Westbury and Trowbridge also offer dental x-ray. The Trowbridge site has provided emergency out of hours care since 2018 and gained hospital status through the RCVS Practice Standards Accreditation Scheme in 2026.
