This is an exciting opportunity for a recently qualified or early-career veterinary surgeon to step into out-of-hours emergency work within a multi-disciplinary referral hospital in the North West. You'll work a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota (alternative patterns may be considered), taking primary responsibility for overnight care of referral inpatients while also managing emergency presentations from the first-opinion out-of-hours service. This unique combination offers exposure to both specialist patient management and acute primary care cases.
You'll join a highly skilled night team supported by experienced RVNs and fellow out-of-hours clinicians. Specialists are available on call for referral cases, providing expert support while allowing you to develop your confidence and decision-making in a genuinely collaborative environment. The role offers opportunities to be involved in advanced medical and surgical procedures and to gain meaningful exposure to specialist-level care.
Chestergates Veterinary Specialists is a multi-disciplinary referral hospital in the North West serving as part of CVS Veterinary Group. The hospital houses specialists in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Diagnostic Imaging, Dermatology, Soft Tissue Surgery and Anaesthesia, plus an Advanced Practitioner in Ophthalmology. Alongside referral services, the practice provides a busy out-of-hours emergency service for a large network of primary care practices, operating 24 hours a day.
