OOH Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

CVS Vets24/7 New Forest is seeking an experienced OOH Veterinary Surgeon to join its overnight service in Ringwood. The rota is ideally 7 nights on, 14 nights off, with flexible and part-time options considered.

You will be trusted to use your professional judgement, lead medical and surgical cases, carry out diagnostic investigations and follow cases through from presentation to outcome. The service is described as patient-focused, with close working relationships between the team and member practices helping to support continuity of care.

This role suits a clinician who enjoys responsibility, varied overnight work and contributing ideas as the service develops.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead medical and surgical cases during out-of-hours shifts.
• Carry out diagnostic investigations for a varied overnight caseload.
• Work cases through from presentation to outcome.
• Use professional judgement to support patient and client care.
• Contribute suggestions that help shape and improve the developing service.
• Communicate clearly with nursing colleagues and support smooth handovers with daytime practices.

Requirements

• Experienced small animal vet with confidence in OOH, emergency or critical care practice.
• Confident taking the lead on medical and surgical cases.
• Able to make sound decisions independently.
• Clear communicator who supports nursing colleagues and shares knowledge.
• Values a positive, inclusive culture and is willing to contribute ideas.
• Compassionate when supporting clients through difficult moments.
