Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You'll be the welcoming face of Cundall & Duffy Veterinary Centre, managing the flow of communication, appointments, and client interactions from our Scarborough practice. This permanent, full-time role runs Monday to Friday on a varied shift pattern between 08:30 and 18:30, with a share in the Saturday morning rota (08:45 to 12:15). You'll be part of a practice within CVS Vets, one of the UK's leading veterinary groups with over 500 practices and 8,000 devoted professionals committed to putting pets first.

Your day will involve handling incoming calls, scheduling appointments, greeting and registering new clients, managing insurance forms, dispensing medications, processing payments, and providing empathy to clients during difficult times. You'll work with an in-house system to organise patients efficiently and liaise with other veterinary practices when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and schedule appointments efficiently
• Respond to queries via phone, email, and in-person with professionalism
• Greet and register new clients, ensuring a warm welcome
• Process and manage insurance forms
• Dispense medications as required
• Process payments accurately and efficiently
• Provide empathy and understanding to clients during distressing times while maintaining professionalism
• Organise patients using the in-house system
• Liaise with other veterinary practices to address patient needs and queries
• Handle phone calls regarding debts, belongings, and refunds
• Ensure every client feels welcomed and valued

Requirements

• Previous experience as a receptionist (essential)
• Experience in a veterinary setting is a bonus
• Resilience and ability to handle emotional situations with grace
• Strong communication skills paired with genuine empathy
• Outstanding customer service skills and experience with the public
• Positive attitude and superior teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
• Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available for this role)
