Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You’ll be joining Attimore Veterinary Centre in Welwyn Garden City as a Veterinary Receptionist. The role is full time, with 41.13 hours a week, working Monday to Friday plus 1 in 4 Saturdays.

This is a busy client-facing position where you’ll be the first point of contact for pet owners, helping to keep the day running smoothly while offering reassurance, empathy and professionalism throughout each interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and book appointments efficiently.
• Respond to enquiries by phone, email and face to face.
• Welcome and register new clients at reception.
• Process insurance forms and handle payments accurately.
• Dispense medications when required.
• Use the in-house system to organise patients.
• Liaise with other veterinary practices about patient needs and queries.
• Make calls relating to debts, belongings and refunds where needed.
• Support clients with empathy during distressing moments while remaining professional.

Requirements

• Previous receptionist experience is essential.
• Experience in a veterinary setting is beneficial but not required.
• Strong communication skills and genuine empathy.
• Good customer service skills and confidence working with the public.
• A positive attitude and strong teamwork approach.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
