About the Role

This Veterinary Surgeon position is based in Horsham, West Sussex, with Billingshurst also mentioned in the advert. The role is full time, although part-time applicants are considered, and the hours are up to 40 ideally.

You’ll be joining Farthings, a two-site small animal practice with a friendly, collaborative culture. The advert highlights a wide range of facilities and specialist equipment, along with regular check-ups, routine procedures, surgery and treatment work. Weekend cover is 1 in 6 weekends on call, through to Monday 8am.

The practice is looking for a vet with at least 2 years’ experience, strong medical knowledge and experience in routine and emergency surgery. CVS also says it is happy to negotiate the hours and rota pattern to fit availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out surgery, medical work and diagnostic investigations across a varied small animal caseload.
• Provide care for regular check-ups, routine procedures and emergency surgery cases.
• Offer guidance to the wider team and contribute to shaping clinical standards.
• Work collaboratively within a two-site practice alongside vets, nurses and receptionists.
• Support clients with clear communication and reassuring service.

Requirements

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience.
• Strong medical knowledge.
• Experience in routine and emergency surgery.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work with clinical autonomy and handle a varied caseload.
