Take on a newly created first opinion Veterinary Surgeon role in a busy hospital setting, with full or part time hours across 3 to 4 days and 1 in 4 weekends. You'll also have the chance to build ECC experience, use on-site CT training and help shape a fast-growing service.
This is a newly created first opinion Veterinary Surgeon position at PetMedics, based at Worsley Hospital in Manchester. The rota is full or part time, with 31 to 40 hours a week across 3 to 4 days, plus 1 in 4 weekends.
You will be working in a busy hospital environment alongside a 24-hour emergency and critical care team and certificate-led referral clinicians. The role includes the opportunity to admit and manage your own patients, develop ECC skills, and gain experience with on-site CT, with full training provided.
There is scope to help shape and grow the first opinion service, and support is available for further qualifications and individual clinical interests. An interest or additional qualification in behaviour would be particularly welcomed, and exotics caseload experience is also available for those who want to explore it.
PetMedics is a multi-site veterinary group made up of a state-of-the-art 24-hour hospital, a fully refurbished first opinion practice and a dedicated consulting branch. The wider team includes 37 veterinary surgeons, many of whom are certificate holders or working toward certification, supported by certificate holding RVNs, patient care assistants and receptionists.
The hospital has four operating theatres, six consulting rooms, a dedicated intensive care unit, a permanent CT scanner, digital X-ray, three ultrasound machines, endoscopy and laparoscopy, mechanical ventilation and a fully operational in-house laboratory with video microscopy. It also holds Gold Cat Friendly Clinic status, plus Silver awards for rabbit friendly and dog friendly care.
