About the Role

This full-time permanent position at Briar Dawn Veterinary Centre offers a refreshing approach to small animal practice. Based in Oldham at the gateway to the Pennines, you'll work 40 hours across 4-5 days with a shared 1:3 Saturday rota. The practice is also open to part-time and job-share arrangements if that suits your circumstances better.

You'll join a passionate team of vets, nurses, PCAs, and receptionists in a friendly, collaborative environment where case continuity and excellent client relationships are prioritised over throughput. The practice sees a varied caseload including unusual cases, and you'll have access to state-of-the-art facilities including dental radiography, digital x-ray, referral-level ultrasound with cardiac and abdominal probes, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy equipment, TTA kit, electro-cautery, tonometer, and slit lamp.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on surgical and medical cases with clinical autonomy, carrying out diagnostic investigations with precision
• Take responsibility for case management and work-up, supported by a strong team and access to local referral centres for advice where needed
• Support and mentor colleagues across the practice, contributing to a culture of shared learning and best practice
• Build long-lasting relationships with clients and their animals through compassionate, reassuring care
• Pursue areas of clinical interest (medical or surgical) and develop these areas within the practice
• Contribute to shaping clinical standards and driving continuous improvement

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a Veterinary Surgeon
• Strong clinical skills and confidence in both medical and surgical cases
• Experience managing a varied caseload with clinical autonomy
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and gaining confidence in new case types
• Excellent client communication skills and ability to build trust
• Team player with natural mentoring abilities
• Genuine passion for delivering excellent animal care
