About the Role

This is a 6 month fixed term Veterinary Surgeon position at Thompsons Veterinary Centre in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. The role is advertised at 30 hours a week across 3 or 4 days, with flexibility to offer more or fewer hours if needed. There is no out of hours, and you will share in the 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota.

You will be joining a welcoming, close-knit first opinion small animal practice with a long-standing team. The Clinical Director holds a certificate in internal medicine, and the practice says clinicians are empowered to make the best decisions, with improvement encouraged and best practice shared.

Based on site at Etwall House on Alfreton Road, the practice also highlights free on-site parking and a location that offers easy access to the M1 and Nottingham city centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a varied first opinion small animal caseload.
• Take the lead on surgical and medical cases.
• Carry out diagnostic investigations with precision.
• Contribute clinical guidance to the wider team.
• Support colleagues and help develop best practice across the practice.
• Provide reassuring client care and build trust with pet owners.

Requirements

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon.
• Confident clinical skills.
• Comfortable handling a varied caseload.
• Able to work with clinical autonomy.
• Keen to keep developing confidence and skills.
• Natural mentor and team player.
• Strong client care approach.
