Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

This is a permanent Veterinary Receptionist position with 40 hours per week on offer, and candidates wanting 20 hours per week are also welcome to apply. The shift pattern runs Monday to Friday, with Saturdays worked on a rota basis.

You will be based at the Halifax site and play a key part in keeping client care organised, calm and welcoming. The role combines front-desk service, phone and email contact, appointment booking, payments, insurance administration and practical support for clients and the wider practice team.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and arrange appointments
• Deal with queries by phone, email and in person
• Greet new clients and register them into the system
• Handle insurance forms
• Dispense medication when required
• Process payments accurately
• Support clients with empathy during difficult moments
• Organise patients using the in-house system
• Liaise with other veterinary practices about patient needs and queries
• Make calls about debts, belongings and refunds

Requirements

• Previous experience as a receptionist or in a demanding, client-facing role
• Veterinary setting experience is beneficial, but not essential
• Resilience and a kind, professional approach in emotional situations
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• A positive attitude and good teamwork skills
• Microsoft Office and database skills
• Right to work in the UK
