Ready to launch your vet career with structured support and genuine mentorship? DNA Vetcare's two-year Graduate Programme pairs you with experienced vets in an independent practice network where your development—not just your output—comes first.

About the Role

This is a structured two-year Graduate Programme designed specifically for newly qualified veterinary surgeons. You’ll join DNA Vetcare, the UK’s largest independent veterinary group, working across a supportive network of practices in London, Kent, and Sussex. The role combines hands-on clinical experience with protected learning time and dedicated mentorship, ensuring you build confidence and competence at your own pace.

Year 1 focuses on clinical foundations and confidence-building. You’ll work alongside experienced vets, attend extended consults, receive hands-on coaching, and won’t progress to sole charge work until you’re truly ready. Year 2 shifts toward professional development, allowing you to explore clinical interests, develop leadership skills, and lead a graduate project with real practice impact. Throughout both years, mentorship and structured reviews keep your growth on track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical consultations and examinations under supervision in Year 1, progressing to greater independence in Year 2
  • Perform surgical procedures ranging from routine to complex cases, supported by experienced colleagues
  • Undertake diagnostic work and interpret results with guidance from your mentoring team
  • Provide client care and communicate effectively with pet owners about their animals’ health
  • Participate in structured review meetings and reflective learning sessions throughout the programme
  • Develop and deliver a graduate project in Year 2 that contributes to practice improvement
  • Engage in continuing professional development aligned with your career interests

Requirements

  • Recently qualified veterinary surgeon (MRCVS) or final-year vet student
  • Enthusiasm for small animal medicine and willingness to learn across diverse cases
  • Strong communication skills and genuine commitment to animal welfare and client care
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and respond positively to mentorship
  • Flexibility and adaptability as you develop clinical confidence

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of £40,000 per annum
  • £1,500 annual CPD allowance with 5 days dedicated CPD leave
  • RCVS and VDS professional fees paid (subject to confirmation)
  • Subsidised accommodation available at selected practice sites
  • Comprehensive pastoral and wellbeing support throughout the programme
  • Mentorship and structured reviews built into your working schedule
  • Career development guidance and progression planning
