Ready to join a thriving multi-vet team where your clinical skills are valued and supported? This Sussex role offers a genuine four-day week, access to cutting-edge equipment, and the chance to work alongside an orthopaedic surgeon and specialists across dentistry, imaging, and soft-tissue surgery.
1:4 weekend rota. Emergency and critical care duties are daytime only (no overnight on-call mentioned).
DNA Vetcare is looking for a passionate veterinary surgeon to join their Sussex and Surrey practice, working across both a branch surgery and a 24-hour hospital. This is a role designed for vets who thrive on variety and want to develop their skills in a supported, well-resourced environment. You'll see everything from first-opinion consultations through to advanced soft-tissue surgery and emergency and critical care (day shifts), with excellent mentorship from an experienced team.
The position offers genuine work-life balance with a four-day working week and a manageable 1:4 weekend rota. You'll split your time between the branch (two days) and the hospital (two days), giving you exposure to both community practice and higher-acuity cases. Whether you're a recent graduate wanting to build confidence or an experienced vet seeking a more flexible schedule and better support, this role supports your progression.
DNA Vetcare is an independent group of award-winning surgeries founded in 2006 by veterinary surgeons Alan van Heerden and Dane Walker. The founders built the practice on a foundation of clinical excellence and compassionate care, drawing on their extensive experience across high-quality practices in London and Kent. Director Claire Baker joined in 2019 and leads the group's operations and veterinary recruitment.
The practice is known for its network of handpicked veterinary surgeons and its reputation for exceptional patient care. The Sussex location combines first-opinion branch work with a full 24-hour hospital facility, equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical technology. The team culture emphasises continuous learning, with team members actively pursuing certifications and specialist interests across dentistry, orthopaedic surgery, regenerative medicine, imaging, endoscopy, soft-tissue surgery, and dermatology.
