Join a thriving small animal practice where your nursing skills genuinely matter. Epsom Vets4Pets offers no OOH, supportive mentorship, and room to grow—whether you're newly qualified or ready for your next challenge.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours duties. 1 in 3 weekend rota only.

About the Role

This is a full-time or part-time permanent position (up to 40 hours per week) at a purpose-built small animal training practice in Epsom. You’ll work a manageable 1 in 3 weekend rota with no out-of-hours duties, allowing genuine work-life balance. The practice sits conveniently close to Epsom town centre, just a 7-minute walk from the train station, with ample onsite parking.

You’ll be joining a collaborative team of 3 vets, 3 RVNs, a practice manager, 2 student veterinary nurses, 2 veterinary care assistants, and 2 receptionists. The practice is experiencing exciting growth, and your role reflects that expansion. You’ll work with modern facilities including digital X-ray, ultrasound with Doppler, evolving orthopaedic equipment, and separate dog and cat wards designed to minimise patient stress.

The team works alongside peripatetic orthopaedic and cardiac specialists, meaning you’ll be involved in more complex surgical procedures and comprehensive case workups than typical small animal practices. This creates excellent learning opportunities and keeps the clinical work varied and engaging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard clinical nursing care across the practice’s small animal cases
  • Support the daily running of the practice, ensuring excellent patient and client care at every interaction
  • Perform integral clinical nursing duties including patient monitoring, anaesthetic support, wound management, and pre/post-operative care
  • Contribute to the practice’s training ethos—the practice is classified as a small animal training practice and values continuous development
  • Work collaboratively with the veterinary team and nursing colleagues to maintain the practice’s culture of client bonding and family-centred care
  • Take pride in organisation and communication, helping the team run smoothly
  • Embrace all aspects of the RVN role and develop an interest in the business side of practice management

Requirements

  • Current RCVS registration as a Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Genuine passion for patient and client care
  • Willingness to develop and learn, whether newly qualified or experienced
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Interest in supporting team motivation and contributing to practice goals

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £34,000 depending on experience
  • No out-of-hours duties
  • Manageable 1 in 3 weekend rota
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Paid professional memberships (BVNA, RCVS, VDS)
  • Dedicated CPD allowance for continued professional development
  • Exclusive company discounts: 20% off Pets at Home, The Groom Room, and The Vet Group
  • Flexible shift discussion to support work-life balance

About the Practice

Epsom Vets4Pets is a purpose-built small animal training practice established in 2016 by lead vet and practice owner Lenesa Govender, who brings 18 years of veterinary experience, primarily in senior roles. The practice is designed with both patients and team welfare in mind, featuring modern clinical equipment and a layout that prioritises stress-free care for animals.

The practice operates with a philosophy of treating pets as if they were family and focuses on genuine client bonding. Lenesa is deeply committed to continuous learning and actively supports professional development across the team. The practice is part of Vets4Pets (operating under Pets at Home), benefiting from corporate support whilst maintaining its independent clinical identity and local community focus. The culture is one of approachability and support—the current head nurse is progressing to practice manager, and a deputy head nurse trained and mentored within the practice is stepping into the head nurse role, reflecting the practice’s investment in staff development and career progression.
