Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Farnham Veterinary Group’s Vale Branch is seeking an experienced Senior RVN to join on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract. This full-time position offers a rare combination: real clinical autonomy at a small, tight-knit branch practice with full backing from one of Surrey’s largest first-opinion hospitals.

You’ll work across four days (8:30am–7pm with an unpaid lunch hour) with a 1:4 weekend rota shared at the main hospital. The Vale Branch operates as a busy first-opinion practice, handling 1–2 operations daily alongside regular consults and diagnostic work. As the sole RVN, you’ll have genuine responsibility and the chance to lead nursing care from admission through recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct nurse consults and manage patient admissions and discharges
• Provide anaesthesia monitoring and surgical nursing support
• Oversee in-patient care and post-operative recovery
• Work independently within the branch while accessing support from the hospital team for complex cases
• Maintain continuity of care for regular clients in a familiar, community-focused setting

Requirements

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse with proven experience
• Comfortable working as sole RVN with nurse clinics and anaesthetic responsibility
• Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to high standards of patient care
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build client relationships
• Confidence in routine procedures, ultrasound, X-ray, and blood work
