Equine Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a large specialist equine practice spanning two sites in Baschurch and Wrexham. You'll deliver high-standard patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload, combining hospital-based work with comprehensive ambulatory services covering Shropshire, North Wales and Cheshire.

The role welcomes vets with a keen interest in orthopaedics and equine dentistry, though you'll also enjoy the full diversity of ambulatory equine practice. You'll build genuine continuity of care, following cases from initial assessment through diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management, which allows you to develop strong relationships with both clients and their horses.

Flexible working arrangements are available, and you'll work full-time or part-time as suits your needs. The practice is RCVS-accredited and committed to clinical excellence and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Routine and emergency ambulatory visits across the practice territory
• Lameness investigations and poor performance work-ups
• Routine and advanced equine dentistry
• Vaccinations and preventative healthcare protocols
• Wound management and colic investigations
• Field surgery and general ambulatory medicine
• Collaborating with a team of 18 equine veterinary surgeons and 11 nursing, technical and administrative colleagues
• Contributing positively to clinical culture and supporting colleague development

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
• Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
