£53,120 – £70,550/yr
London, London
Part Time
No OOH
Ready to lead a growing first opinion practice with a genuine village atmosphere? This part-time senior role in riverside Putney offers you a blank canvas to build something special—with no on-call, supportive backup, and the chance to grow ultrasound skills.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

1:3 branch Saturday rotation and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation, plus 1 bank holiday per year. No on-call/overnight requirements.

About the Role

You’ll be joining Goddard Vet Group’s Putney clinic, a popular first opinion practice nestled in Southwest London’s riverside village atmosphere, moments from the Thames and Putney Station. This is part-time work with a straightforward Monday, Thursday, and Friday rota (including a crossover Monday shift with your associate vet to manage the weekly rush). Weekend cover is shared—1:3 branch Saturday and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation—with no overnight on-call requirements at all.

The practice is at an exciting inflection point: the associate vet is thriving, and you’ll be coming in as senior alongside a new senior RVN position being recruited simultaneously. That means you’re genuinely building a team from the ground up, rather than stepping into an established hierarchy. If you know a senior RVN looking for the same opportunity, there’s even a refer-a-friend bonus for bringing them on board.

The clientele are excellent—largely insured, genuinely bonded to the team, and a pleasure to work with. Recent investment in ultrasound equipment means you can develop diagnostic imaging skills in-house, and you’ll have the full backing of Goddard’s regional clinical leadership plus Stone Lion’s 24-hour hospital just 15 minutes away for referrals and OOH cover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead prescription administration and ensure timely, accurate processing of client requests alongside payment and stock management
  • Oversee the consulting, surgical, and diagnostic diary in line with company protocols
  • Induct new starters and locums at site level
  • Schedule regular branch meetings, ensure minutes are recorded, and track action completion
  • Conduct thorough consultations with evidence-based recommendations aligned to Goddard protocols
  • Perform surgery within your competence boundaries and scope of overnight care provision
  • Refer complex cases appropriately to Goddard hospitals or Stone Lion
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive clinical records and ensure pet histories are clear for colleague handovers
  • Contribute to a collaborative and respectful team environment
  • Foster relationships with the established client base and support practice growth

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Experience in first opinion general practice
  • Willingness to take on formal leadership responsibilities within the practice
  • Strong communication and team-building skills
  • Interest in diagnostic imaging desirable (though training will be provided)

Benefits

  • Salary: £53,120–£70,550 (part-time as stated); equivalent to £64,000–£85,000 FTE based on 40-hour week, depending on experience and development
  • 6.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata) including bank holidays
  • Up to £2,000 CPD budget annually plus up to 5 days’ paid CPD leave (pro rata)
  • Private Medical Healthcare Insurance with Bupa
  • Generous relocation assistance where applicable
  • Leadership training provided if this is your first formal leadership role
  • Regional manager support and access to Stone Lion’s specialist clinical expertise
  • Refer-a-friend bonus eligible
