Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This part-time veterinary surgeon role offers genuine flexibility across two popular first opinion practices in Essex. You'll work three days per week: Tuesdays and Fridays at Shenfield, and Wednesdays at Gidea Park, giving you every Monday and Thursday off. The practices serve a thriving caseload of surgical and medical cases with excellent facilities including ultrasound and K-Laser equipment.

You'll be part of a highly experienced clinical team including multiple RVNs and support colleagues. A part-time senior vet is based at Shenfield, and you'll have access to a dedicated regional manager and regional head vet (John) for clinical support and knowledge sharing. Full-time hours can be explored if preferred.

The Shenfield location is outstanding: just a 5-minute drive from Brentwood High Street, with countryside nearby and an 8-minute walk to Shenfield station on the Elizabeth Line. Gidea Park is equally accessible, sitting within a 3-minute walk of the Elizabeth Line.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine general practice surgery and medicine across Shenfield and Gidea Park
• Work confidently across a full range of GP cases, demonstrating strong surgical and medical skills
• Collaborate with the experienced clinical team including RVNs and support staff
• Participate in Saturday rotations at Gidea Park (1 in 4) and Sunday rotations at Wanstead Hospital (1 in 8)
• Join the last-resort on-call rotation and cover 1-2 bank holidays per year
• Complete a structured induction day at the hospital to meet the team and familiarise yourself with systems

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon with RCVS registration
• Confidence and competence in all routine first opinion general practice surgery and medicine
• Willingness to work on a Saturday rota (1 in 4) and Sunday rota (1 in 8)
• Professional attitude and strong communication skills
