Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This permanent small animal Veterinary Surgeon role is based in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, and is open to an experienced vet or a certificate holder, or someone close to completing a postgraduate veterinary certificate. It offers 37.33 hours per week, a 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota, and no traditional out of hours.

You'll be joining a thriving, truly independent, purpose-built practice with a strong continuous improvement mindset. The team values clinical development and in-house care, with procedures including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, BOAS surgeries and cardiac scans.

The location brings a South Coast lifestyle, and the practice notes that it is also close to Gatwick Airport and London. It is a community-minded practice too, with regular support for local charities and sports teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first opinion small animal veterinary care as part of a collaborative four-vet team.
• Carry out primary care work alongside colleagues who include a Surgery Certificate Holder and a Feline Medicine Certificate Holder.
• Contribute to in-house clinical work that includes orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, BOAS surgeries and cardiac scans.
• Work with the wider nursing and support team, including 4 RVNs and 1 VCA.
• Take part in the 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota.

Requirements

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Strong primary care experience.
• Either an experienced vet or a postgraduate veterinary certificate holder, or close to completion of a certificate.
• Comfortable working in a tight-knit independent environment.
