About the Role
This Head Veterinary Nurse position offers a senior clinical and professional leadership role within Wellpets, Yeovil and Worle. You will oversee all nursing aspects of the practice, support high quality patient and client care, and help shape the culture, performance and ways of working across the team.
The working pattern is 40 hours per week, spread across 4 days in Yeovil and 1 day in Worle. Saturday mornings are on a 1 in 3 basis at Yeovil, from 8:30am to 1pm, and there is no out of hours requirement.
Wellpets is described as a thriving small animal practice with branches in Yeovil and Worle, supported by a team that cares about its patients, clients and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire and develop the nursing and animal care team
- Oversee the day to day running of the nursing function while maintaining clinical standards
- Work alongside the Lead Vet, Client Care Manager, Practice Manager and Practice Director as part of the leadership team
- Provide hands on clinical leadership through patient care, mentoring and team development
- Support Student Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants through coaching and supervision
- Champion infection control, clinical governance and continuous quality improvement
Requirements
- Registered Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Experience in clinical practice with advanced medical and surgical nursing skills
- Proven experience of leading, mentoring and developing nursing teams
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement and professional standards
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
- Knowledgeable, confident and passionate about clinical excellence
