This is a weekend out-of-hours position at Swift Veterinary Referrals' specialist-led multidisciplinary referral hospital in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. The role offers a better work-life balance for those seeking emergency and critical care experience without full-time commitment. You'll work a 20-hour rota pattern every other weekend, collaborating with the wider clinical team to deliver high-quality patient and client care across a varied emergency caseload.
The hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities including a purpose-built intensive care unit with point-of-care ultrasonography, oxygen kennels, ICU bays, multiparameter monitoring, and its own radiography suite. Diagnostic equipment includes a 1.5T MRI scanner, 128-slice GE CT scanner, doppler ultrasound, and endoscopy. You'll have direct support from on-call referral clinicians (including two European Specialists) and an experienced nursing team, many with advanced qualifications in emergency and critical care.
The role combines consulting, first-opinion emergency surgery and procedures, and inpatient care. You'll develop your clinical skills while contributing to the clinical culture of the practice and supporting colleagues' ongoing development.
